Chhand Valay

Chhanda is Meter in poetry. This Sanskrit term means ‘that which pleases’. A metre presents an undulating form while reading or chanting. This is caused by stress (prasvana) and pause (yati) in the metre. Hence, Chhanda is a poetic writing arranged in lines which have rhythm and which often rhyme at the end. Verses composed of Chhanda carry a higher level of beauty and extract spiritual values from the universe, the world and the human life.
